(Note that this copy of our charter -- known as the "Lodestone" -- may not be entirely up to date. The only copy actively maintained is located on our web forum.)

GENERAL

I believe strongly in guidelines, not law written in stone. Follow the spirit rather than the letter. This provides leeway for everyone to act as they think best but still keep us on track. If you are off track, you'll be warned. Make a pattern of it and you WILL forfeit your colors ( /gkick ). Let common sense prevail!

As a group, we have little to no tolerance for obviously provocative, racist, sexist or similarly offensive nonsense. When in doubt, act as if you're physically standing in a room with young/old/male/female human beings and speaking out loud enough for all to hear. In other words, show some consideration to others, because no matter who you are, this place ain't all about you.

TABARD

It's all about symbolism. We can work this into our role play in lots of ways. Red for the Horde. Red is symbolic of life, blood, rage, passion. We have all these things. Let them shine out in your game play! The Band symbolizes a cohesive group. It represents union. It can have militant connotations. It is synonymous with the concept of a ring and a circle that encloses us and holds us together. Think about Arthurian (but not romantic) legend and Robin Hood evoking concepts of the Round Table and brotherhood and Robin's Band, respectively.

GUILD STRUCTURE

Here is a bottom up listing of Red Band ranks:

RECRUITING & PROMOTION

<under revision>

PRIORITIES

Respect for other players. "Good form." Helping and supporting each other. Although we are slightly more PvE and RP focused, our membership values all aspects of the game; RP, PvP, and PvE.

ROLE PLAY

It's why we're on this server! Here's my take on role playing: it's a social thing, you can't do it alone! Use emotes, if you're into racial language stereotypes, use them! Role play is not just for the benefit of the Red Band. Its particularly effective when used in crowded areas - and don't think that means only in the Undercity, Orgrimmar and other large towns. Roleplay in battle! We 'want' others to see us doing it, Horde and Alliance alike. Our Band will be admired far and wide for our game play if we do this.

COMMUNICATIONS

Guild chat channel in character, but loosely. Occasional out of character commentary is fine if denoted somehow (double-parens or whatever), but please let's not make a habit of it. Parties and Raids - If you can stay in character, great! Whispers and ally or OOC designated channels as you see fit.

MEETINGS

Officers meet once per week either on Tuesday or Friday evening as they are able.

Red Band guild meetings are set roughly once per month. If no officers are present to officiate, members are strongly encouraged to gather anyway. Camaraderie is important to the cohesiveness of the Band! A red sleeved shirt, black or dark leggings and boots, and your Red Band tabard is the dress code. Red head sash is optional. No visible armor or weapons. Participation is not mandatory but it's a great place to show solidarity, find out what's going on, and a way to stretch your RP muscle.

Informal and optional "tavern night" events for all Destiny members occur in various locales around Azeroth on Wednesday evenings at 8pm server time.

ADDONS

Everyone is STRONGLY encouraged to use GEM ("Guild Event Manager" addon posting) so we can keep track of each other's plans and the Band's meeting schedule. Channel information will be shared in game and not publicly posted.

Red Band now operates an open GEM channel for raiding. Anyone can subscribe, but Red Band members will take priority. The channel name is "RedBand".

VALUES

  • Teamwork - We do not tolerate those who continually refuse to cooperate with their teams or act in a belligerent and abusive manner.
  • Fair play - I'd prefer we not develop a reputation as a ganking/camping guild. Unless of course, you're setting a known ganking/camping player in his/her place or they've otherwise been tagged as KOS.
  • Exploits - Gaining advantage through the exploitation of bugs or the use of game geometry in ways that are clearly not intended by the designers is unacceptable.

HORDE CLAN AFFILIATIONS

The Red Band is a pillar of the long standing "Destiny Coalition". Other member guilds include the Four Winds, Ancestral Winds, and Crimson Brotherhood. Members of those guilds should be treated with respect and aided if in need. Issues with members of allied clans should be brought to an officer ASAP if you do not feel you can resolve the issue peaceably yourself. We share a joint chat channel with these other guilds as well as sharing a GEM channel for event participation. Ask an officer in-game for details (see Addons section below).

  • This list adapted from the guild's official discussion group.
