The Murder of Crows is a PvP & RP thriving Horde guild on the US Server Scarlet Crusade. The Murder of Crows was formed by Master Jannik on Thursday, January 19th, 2006. On Saturday, August 23rd, 2008, at 8:07:25 AM EST, Master Jannik was informed that The Murder of Crows had been accepted as a full member of Doomhammer Legion, making The Murder of Crows officially allied to the following guilds: The Darkspear, The Impalers, The Sacred Band (though The Murder's alliance already existed with this guild), & Storm Wölves.

Purpose of Guild

Argent Dawn
Argent Dawn

In-Character: To serve as an extension of Master Jannik's patriotic will as he both leads & serves The Forsaken Cause. Currently, this means that The Murder's primary focus is: To unite all Horde races under the organized & powerful banner of The Murder of Crows with the purpose of destroying our common enemies: The Burning Legion, The Scourge, The Scarlet Crusade, & The Alliance, in that order of priority.
Out-of-character: To build & maintain an organized guild of friendly & mature (behavioral maturity; age is irrelevant) people that love to role-play in a positive & drama-free atmosphere.

Recruitment

The Murder of Crows always welcomes friendly, helpful people that behave in a mature manner, love to role-play, and don't cause drama. We do require that the character is level 10 or higher. With the intention of keeping undesirables out of The Murder of Crows, a basic interview([1]) system has been established.

Regularly scheduled "Call to Arms" Guild BG runs, raids on Alliance towns, and instances of all seasons depending on the needs & requests of Crows. Scheduled events are arranged through the Members Only Forum & Calendar sections of the Guild Archives, & on Doomhammer Legion's website.

Guild Guidelines

Guild Chat is RP-required, In-Character always. We have an OOC channel for regular chatter. In-guild rank is used as a character name prefix when communicating with fellow Guild Members in an in-character manner. Blizzard's rules are in effect at all times, & are enforced. Beyond that, common sense.

History

Guild Formation & Theme Changes

The Murder of Crows was formed by Master Jannik on Thursday, January 19th, 2006. He is the sole remaining character from the original charter (document used to create a guild, requiring 10 signatures) (though a few players are still in the guild as different character names than those on the charter). At that time, the guild was for Forsaken only. As soon as the guild was formed, The Murder of Crows declared war on the Alliance guild "Crusade of Light". The Murder of Crows was role-played as being evil, priding itself on cold-blooded murder of enemies of the guild (to be cold-blooded, this means those enemies that may not have even known they were hated by the Murder, such as an obscure farm in the middle of human territory that had never heard of the guild), etc. The Crusade of Light was just the opposite; composed of Alliance Patriots that didn't even trust Rogues or Warlocks to join their guild, they seemed to be the perfect enemy for The Murder of Crows.
At this time in WoW, Blizzard still tracked Dishonorable Kills, which were acquired by guild members in great amounts as a matter of pride. With this theme, the guild struggled gaining more than 40 or so Guild Members, so shortly before the 6 month anniversary of the guild, the theme was changed slightly to be, in short, "Undead Superiority". Under this new system, "Breathers" (non-Forsaken) were permitted to join The Murder of Crows, as long as they willingly subjected themselves to the rank of Slave. The guild ranks were divided according to Race. Breathers started as Slaves, & could move up to Gladiator, then Centurion, & finally Champion.
Forsaken started as Initiate, & moved up to Acolyte, then Fiend, & finally DoomBringer. This was highly successful, & allowed the guild to reach a peak of 135+ guild Members by September of 2006. Sometime in early April of 2007, The Murder of Crows' theme was changed from Undead Superiority, to be dedicated to serving the Forsaken Cause more directly. No longer would the Guild Ranking System be biassed against non-Forsaken. This change was to make the guild more realistic in the role-playing world that Blizzard has us in. As of July of 2008, The Murder of Crows([2]) consists of 66 Crows, 13 of which are level 70.

Victory over Crusade of Light

On June 24th, 2006, Master Jannik declared victory over the guild Crusade of Light (now disbanded). The following is posted on The Murder of Crows' Guild Website to advertise the victory:
We Are VICTORIOUS!!!!
The Crusade of Light is falling apart! While our information is limited, we do know that the wretched & cowardly King Barthalamu, & many of his more seasoned henchmen, have deserted the ranks of their one glorious guild, retreating into the depths of Stormwind Keep, one of the few safe places for them to hide. The new Guild Master is not yet known, though we do know it's not lead by Barthalamu, nor Fremont. We suspect Assias may be the new leader.
Our war with them has ended, as our main conflict is with the bastard son of the former Human King Terenas, Barthalamu. May his tail be always between his legs, until the day comes that Master Jannik cannibalizes his corpse! Glory to The Murder of Crows!

The Fall of the DoomBringers

About a month after reaching our peak number of members in September of 2006, several guild members reached level 60. They immediately wanted to do end-game, but the guild didn't have quite enough members to do this. Trying to recruit other 60s into an RP-guild for end-game was very challenging, & several guild members decided to leave the guild. This marks an event (which spans from roughly August 2006 to February 2007) in the guild's history known as "The Fall of the DoomBringers", because all three DoomBringers at that time, Shadowghost, Morgoroth, & Shenci, left The Murder of Crows & joined the end-game instance guild Tribute (now disbanded).
With the Fall of the DoomBringers, several other Crows deserted the Murder as well, leaving the guild to join Tribute (now disbanded); including: Amemait, Arosen, Blackbarron, Crewzar, Maelive, Painatah (Champion), Sproutweed (Fiend), & Vswolf (now known as Gwwolf). Other losses were incurred in large part due to the Fall of the DoomBringers which did not go to Tribute (now disbanded).
These include: Amorina, Duru, Gravytrain, Kempe, Lydee, Matchbox, Meteorite, Nekrar, Ondelvale, Senirath, Stonebrow, Tourrox, Trajanmar, Virin, Zarthinout, & others. ( For a complete list of Ex-Crows, please visit http://www.warcraftrealms.com/guildexes/610438 ) After losing over a dozen Crows during the Fall of the DoomBringers, a dozen or two more allowed themselves to go idle for over a month, resulting in removal from the guild. The Murder of Crows([3]) reached their all time low in the number of guild members (since having exceeded the following # of course) in February of 2007, consisting of about 55 Crows.

Alliance with The Sacred Band

On Thursday, October 25th, 2007 around 7:30pm EST, Master Jannik & Guild Master Geirrod met in the town hall of Brill with about a dozen members from each guild in attendance, & basically declared intentions of serving the Horde Cause side by side, as allies, & comrades in arms. The event was basically a somewhat brief guild meeting, marked with public introductions of guild members by Master Jannik & Guild Master Geirrod, followed by much drinking, & then a united raid on two Alliance towns. Master Jannik created the chat channel "LegionsBaneOOC" for the two guilds to share, for easier networking & communication on Friday, October 26th. The name of the channel was offered by Sergeant L'ola. The guild alliance was initiated by Lydee.
