A better mana reduction than Improved Healing, and for only 2 points. Note that prayer of healing is only really worth casting if you have at least three damaged party members. It really depends on how often you use prayer of healing.

Generally, in group PvE this spell will find more use than in raid PvE (where cross-healing is common) and PvP (where group-wide damage normally is rare).
