The druids' reverence for nature allows them to bestow wondrous gifts upon their allies.[1]
Healing Touch is a druidhealing spell. It is the largest direct heal available to the class. The spell doesn't scale as well with talents and gear as other druid spells, however, and this combined with the unwieldy casting time means that the spell sees very little use at higher levels.
Healing Touch is one of the more powerful healing spells in the game. It is however not very mana efficient at higher levels compared to other healing spells available to druids.
Healing Touch costs 1165 mana at level 80 before reduction by talents.
With a Glyph of Healing Touch and the proper talents, it is possible to make healing touch a useful fast cast direct heal. This can dramatically reduce a restoration druids' disability for healing per second.
Nature's Focus reduces the pushback suffered from damage while casting Healing Touch by 70%. Note that this only affects pushback from taking damage, and offers no protection against interrupts such as Kick or Counterspell.
Naturalist reduces the casting time by 0.5 seconds.
Living Seed causes critical heals from Healing Touch to place a buff on the target, healing for 30% of the critical heal the next time the target takes damage.
Using Nature's Swiftness with this spell results in a massive instant direct heal, which is very useful for emergency situations. Most druids have a macro that immediately casts Nature's Swiftness followed by Healing Touch. In this way you can take advantage of the spell's strength (a massive direct heal) while ignoring its weakness (long casting time).
If you think your target might die while you're casting this spell, cast Regrowth first to buy yourself a little time.
