The term hide can mean two things:

1. A type of skin item usually gathered with the Skinning profession from a skinnable corpse resource and usable as an ingredient for mostly Leatherworking recipes.
2. To try to conceal or make hidden. Also called Stealth.

Leatherworking hidesEdit

Most hides usually need to be processed or treated by curing with [Salt] before they can be used by the Leatherworking profession.

Normal Hides Edit

You get hides the same way you get skins, but the drop rate is lower. All of the standard hides require Leatherworking to cure the hides before they can be used as ingredients for crafting items.

  • [Cured Light Hide], Thottbot
• [Medium Hide], Thottbot (15-38 lvl mobs)
  • [Cured Medium Hide], Thottbot
• [Heavy Hide], Thottbot (26-46 lvl mobs)
  • [Cured Heavy Hide], Thottbot
• [Thick Hide], Thottbot (40-57 lvl mobs)
  • [Cured Thick Hide], Thottbot
• [Rugged Hide], Thottbot (47-59 lvl mobs)
  • [Cured Rugged Hide], Thottbot
• [Fel Hide], Thottbot (Outland Demons and Warp Stalkers.)
  • Unlike the Azeroth hides, does not need to be cured to use.

Special Hides Edit

Some special hides do not need to be cured before they can be used:

• [Shadowcat Hide], Thottbot - can no longer be skinned from Shadow Panthers in the Swamp of Sorrows or Shadowmaw Panthers in Stranglethorn Vale
• [Thick Wolfhide], Thottbot - can no longer be skinned from level 40+ wolves
• [Pristine Hide of the Beast], Thottbot - Requires 310 Skinning skill (used to require [Finkle's Skinner], which drops off The Beast itself, or [Zulian Slicer] from Zul'Gurub before the Burning Crusade).
• [Light Silithid Carapace], Thottbot
• [Heavy Silithid Carapace], Thottbot
