For the post-4.0.1 version of Honor points, see Honor point. For the small Alliance outpost on Hellfire Peninsula, see Honor Point (Hellfire Peninsula).

Honor point refers to points awarded by competing against enemy faction players that can be turned in for honor rewards.

Added with content Patch 2.0.1.

There are several sources of Honor:

Earning Honor PointsEdit

Honor points are calculated instantly, with the awarded honor points being usable immediately by the player. Prior to Patch 2.4, Honor points were calculated and awarded once a day based on the PvP activities of the character.

Honor CapEdit

Currently (as of Cataclysm), players can have a maximum of 4000 honor points. This was lowered from 75,000 pre-Cataclysm. Everything earned above that is lost.

Honorable killsEdit

An honorable kill (abbreviated HK) is the simplest method of earning honor points. Honorable Kills are gained by killing members of the opposite faction, the faction leaders, and bosses in PvP zones such as Vault of Archavon. If you kill an opposing player that is within 5 levels of you, you gain honor. The amount of honor you gain is based on your level and your target's level. You do not need to deliver the killing blow, nor do you even need to be in the same party. All members of a party will receive honor and an honorable kill if they are proximity to the kill.

ObjectivesEdit

Many objectives exist in both Battlegrounds and in World PvP that yield honor points.

BattlegroundsEdit

During Battlegrounds Holiday, honor from these battlegrounds is increased from those values noted. Fewer honor points are rewarded at lower levels.

  • Capturing the opponents flag rewards 40 honor (at level 60).
  • Winning the match rewards 20 honor (at level 60) .
  • Collecting multiples of 330 resources (330, 660, 990, 1320, 1650, 1980) rewards 20 honor each (at level 60).
  • Winning the match rewards 20 honor (at level 60).
  • Killing Enemy General, Vanndar Stormpike for Horde and Drek'thar for Alliance (62 honor).
  • Killing Enemy Captain, Balinda Stonehearth for Horde and Galvangar for Alliance (62 honor).
  • Destroying an Enemy Tower (62 honor).
  • Collecting multiples of 330 resources (330, 660, 990, 1320, 1650, 1980) rewards 20.5 honor each.
  • Winning the match rewards 40 honor.
  • Losing the match rewards 20.5 honor.

World PvPEdit

Azeroth World PvPEdit
  • Capturing a tower (Crown Guard, Northpass, Eastwall, Plaguewood) rewards 19 honor points.
Northrend World PvPEdit
  • Capturing the final objective, Wintergrasp Fortress, will award players with Honor Points.

No honor point reset in Wrath of the Lich King Edit

On September 23rd 2008, Eyonix announced that, "In order to make the transition from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King flow as smoothly as possible, all accrued honor points will be reset at the launch of the expansion."[1]

However, on November 19th, Bornakk retracted the claim of an honor point reset, "However, many players would still be surprised by an Honor and token reset as it isn’t something we’ve done in the past. As such, we've decided to not reset Honor or tokens upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King."[2][3]

In Patch 4.0.1Edit

Main article: Honor point

In Patch 4.0.1, honor points will be converted into the new Honor points alongside all other PvP currencies and tokens in use up until that point.
