The Horde of Draenor is the term given to the loose alliance of orc clans that remained on Draenor during the orcish invasion of Azeroth.
Following the end of the Second War, the Horde of Draenor was rallied by the elder shaman, Ner'zhul, who declared himself Warchief and led a renewed offensive into Azeroth with the intention of stealing a number of magical artifacts and using them to open new dimensional gateways on Draenor. His plan failed, and the unstable portals the shaman created tore Draenor apart and effectively ended the existence of the Horde of Draenor.
These events were detailed in the expansion to WarCraft II, Beyond the Dark Portal.
Clans of the Horde of Draenor
Though the unity of these clans was constantly threatened, fear of Ner'zhul and his Ogre-Mage enforcer, Dentarg kept the clans loyal (excepting a few outstanding incidents).
- Warsong Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Grom Hellscream, clan colors: Red
- Bonechewer Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Tagar Spinebreaker, clan colors: Teal
- Thunderlord Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Fenris the Hunter, clan colors: Purple
- Shadowmoon Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Ner'zhul, clan colors: Black
- Shattered Hand Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Kargath Bladefist, clan colors: White
- Laughing Skull Clan - Leader in Beyond the Dark Portal: Mogor the Ogre, clan colors: Yellow
Fate of the Clans
The Shadowmoon, Laughing Skull, Shattered Hand and Bonechewer Clans make up the core of the Fel Horde, fel orcs created by the blood of Magtheridon for service in Illidan Stormrage's legions. The Thunderlord Clan was almost completely destroyed by the Shadowmoon Clan in the early moves of Ner'zhul's quest to open new portals. The Warsong Clan was the only clan to remain (relatively) intact after the Second War, having escaped from Draenor before Ner'zhul opened his portals. They, and a portion of the Shattered Hand, later joined Thrall when he revitalized the Horde.
