Huglar was one of the two most powerful conjurers in the kingdom of Azeroth and Stormwind, and members of the Council of TirisfalLG 155 who lived in the times of King Llane Wrynn — shortly before, and during the start of the First War.
One day, along with another mage named Hugarin, he was found dead by a servant in his room within the royal castle. Medivh and his young apprentice Khadgar were immediately called upon by Anduin Lothar to come to Stormwind, only to learn that the corpses had been found horribly mutilated, and that the room had been mindlessly savaged. As Khadgar tried to sharpen his senses with a simple spell, he was assaulted by foul magic and discovered — thanks to Medivh's explanations — that the two mages had been summoning demons. Lothar later confided in Khadgar that Hugarin and Huglar were not the only members of the Order to have died from a supposed accident, and that he was skeptical that three of their most powerful wizards would be die from unlucky circumstancesLG 132-140, 145, 163
Later on, when Khadgar discovered that it was Medivh who summoned the orcs to Azeroth, he confronted him and accused him of killing the members of the Order, which Medivh confirmed.LG 243
