The Seven Kingdoms were the human city-state nations founded after the Troll Wars and the fracturing of the great empire of Arathor, approximately 1,200 years before the First War.

They include:

• Alterac
• Dalaran
• Gilneas
• Kul Tiras
• Lordaeron
• Stromgarde
• Azeroth (later known as the Kingdom of Stormwind)

At the time of World of Warcraft, Alterac and Lordaeron, have fallen, Stromgarde is hard pressed keeping what small territory they haven't lost yet, while Dalaran is undergoing major reconstruction, following it's destruction by the Burning Legion during the Third War. Stormwind is flourishing, while the state of Kul Tiras and Gilneas is unknown. The only major human settlement in Kalimdor is Theramore Isle, founded by Lady Jaina Proudmoore following the Third War.
