Humar the Pridelord is a hostile level 23 elite rare mob cat found just outside of Ratchet in the Barrens. Players of lowe levels trying to kill him, be sure to pull him far away from the other lions under the tree because, when low on health, he emits a "thundering roar" which will pull every lion around to you, as good as guaranteeing that player's certain death.
Taming
Hunters often seek to tame Humar because of his unique coloration. Note that Blizzard added another cat named Pitch in Sholazar Basin in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Pitch looks identical to Humar, and is not a rare spawn. Hunters of high enough level (mid-70s and up) could tame it instead without waiting for Humar's long respawn timer.
- As you are leaving Ratchet, look to the right. The plain with trees right on the cliff above Ratchet is where Humar lives. He is under the largest tree ([62, 33])and sticks out like a sore thumb, can't miss him. Just keep your eyes on the ground of the tree shadow, that's his spawn point. Unless of course he isn't there.
- It is said that his spawn rate ranges from around 8–12 hours after every time he's tamed or killed; waiting for him could prove to be annoying because of that. Climbing on the tree may be a good camping point.
- Many hunters seek to tame Humar, so you could have some competition.
- Taming him is sometimes unsuccessful even if it is done correctly. Simply freeze-trap and try again if that happens.
