Template:Tooltip MagicDebuff
- Once marked, there can be no escape.[1]
Places the Hunter's Mark on the target, increasing the ranged attack power of all attackers against that target by X and by an additional Y each time they are struck by a ranged attack, up to a maximum of Z. In addition, the target of this ability can always be seen by the hunter whether it stealths or turns invisible. The target also appears on the mini-map. Lasts for 2 min.
Functionality
Uses
- The Hunter's Mark is generally used just prior to pulling a mob. Use of this ability provides both a +damage modifier and makes the target very visible for some distance (the pink arrow that is the trademark of the Hunter's Mark can be seen for several game-meters).
- Use this on mobs that can stealth such as rogues so you and your pet can target them when they try to disappear.
Limitations
- PvE: Hunter's Mark is not an aggro-producing spell so the Hunter can cast Hunter's Mark and then decide the target is in too dicey an aggro area and forget about it. The effect wears off, including the arrow marking the target, in 2 minutes. Also, as this spell is Arcane-based, mobs that are immune to arcane will be immune to Hunter's Mark.
- PvP: Hunter's Mark IS considered a threatening act and will flag you for PvP if you cast it on an opponent. Being a magic effect, Hunter's Mark can be dispelled. As of Patch 1.12, Rogues can dispel Hunter's Mark by using the [Vanish] ability.
