The Ice Stone is a fixed device located in Ashenvale, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale, Searing Gorge, Silithus, Hellfire Peninsula, and Slave Pens, during the Midsummer Fire Festival. These ice stones radiate a bitter cold, chilling the air around it and the platform on which it sits. Deep within its facets, a blue light pulses, waiting (to be melted!)

Ashenvale

When sent to Ashenvale Forest for the quest  [22Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Frostwave Lieutenant.

Desolace

When sent to Desolace for the quest  [32Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Hailstone Lieutenant.

Stranglethorn Vale

When sent to Stranglethorn Vale for the quest  [43Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Chillwind Lieutenant.

Searing Gorge

When sent to Searing Gorge for the quest  [51Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Frigid Lieutenant.

Silithus

When sent to Silithus for the quest  [60Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Glacial Lieutenant.

Hellfire Peninsula

When sent to Hellfire Peninsula for the quest  [67Daily] Striking Back, placing your hand on one of these stones will summon a  Glacial Templar.

Slave Pens

Located in the Slave Pens of Coilfang Reservoir, these stones are used to summon Ahune.

This shard of ice echoes the deep, cracking rumble of invading glaciers. Its cold turns your thoughts to a lifeless, endless winter.

Disturb the stone and summon Lord Ahune.

• During Patch 3.0.9, Ice Stones seemed to be overheating a lot — players were continually getting the global message "The Ice Stone has melted!". The glitch was hotfixed during a round of off-peak rolling restarts. [1]
