The Icon of Blood is the racial crest of the blood elves. It symbolizes their fall and subsequent rise during the Third War. The drop of blood represents their brethren who fell to the Scourge, while the phoenix on the shield is a Resurgam representing their own survival and return to power in Quel'Thalas. The golden leaves likely represent the forests of Eversong Woods.
Notes[]
- The Icon of Blood can be seen emblazoned on the [Golden Bow of Quel'Thalas] and on [Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury]. The [Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix] has a largely neon-colored version and the [Lohn'goron, Bow of the Torn-Heart] has a cobalt one. [Vanir's Fist of Savagery], [Vanir's Fist of Carnage], and [Vanir's Fist of Brutality] are also inspired by the icon.
- Lor'themar Theron's new model in Battle for Azeroth seems to draw inspiration from the Icon of Blood, both in motif and color scheme: the crest's golden phoenix is emblazoned across his upper chest, his red robe is trimmed with gold, and blue gemstones adorn his armor and blade.
