Improved Cleave

Overview

Of all the arts of the warrior, the Cleave is perhaps one of the most satisfying. Many foes make the assumption that if there are more of them than the enemy, they are more likely to win, or at least less like to be hurt if the target is busy. They soon learn that this is not always the case.

But the Cleave involves suprising mental flexibility. One cannot simply ask the enemies to line up 'just so', and all kinds of spatial reasoning and instinctive geometry are required, in order to swing the weapon along just the right trajectory, and yet still cause more than a glancing blow on either target. Some warriors can do this without thinking about it - delivering just as much damage as if they'd hit each one separately.

Functionality

Improved Cleave increases the bonus damage done by the [Cleave] ability.

It is a passive Fury talent, and improves [Cleave] automatically when used.

Notes

A fuly improved (3/3) [Cleave] will do Weapon Damage + 110 to two targets at Rank 5, instead of Weapon Damage + 50, which is a significant imporvement for just three points spent.

[Cleave], [Whirlwind] and [Sweeping Strikes] are the only meaty AOE attacks the warrior has, so any way to improve either is worth looking into, and [Cleave]'s stance independence (useable in all three) makes it especially versatile for coping with adds, or just pulling two at a time. Helpful for tanks and soloists alike.

Alternatives at this tree tier are [Piercing Howl], [Blood Craze] and [Improved Battle Shout], all very useful talents, but Improved Cleave only goes to three ranks anyway, leaving room for [Piercing Howl] 1/1 and one point of something else. This teir is so useful however, that it may be worth spending more than just the five points needed to progress further down.
