Improved Fire Blast is a mage talent that reduces the cooldown of the Fire Blast spell by 1 sec per rank, up to 2 sec at max rank 2. Overall, the talent increases the effective DPS of Fire Blast by allowing the mage to cast it more often. It is viewed as a PvP oriented talent since the DPM of Fire Blast is too poor to be used heavily in most PvE encounters. Most all mages use Fire Blast regardless of spec, so as a tier 1 talent, it is easy to pick up 2 points for a shorter cooldown.
Past changes
Patch 3.0.2 - Talent was moved from tier 2 to tier 1, reduced from 3 ranks to 2, and changed from 0.5 seconds to 1 second per point.
