Kariel Winthalus

Kariel Winthalus was a blood elf Loremaster. He fled the devastation of Quel'thalas, ending up in the ruins of Eldre'Thalas now known as Dire Maul. He was killed while trying to gain knowledge from the Shen'dralar ancients found within. His librams indicate that he ventured to Kalimdor sometime after the events in which Kael pledged his allegiance to Illidan. The librams make reference to both Kael and Illidan, praising both and thus making clear whom he serves. Kariel may or may not have been affiliated with the other blood elf presence in Kalimdor, namely Magus Rimtori and her cohorts. If they travelled to the continent together, it is uncertain what their overall design may have been. Perhaps a pursuit of Kaldorei knowledge, as is evident in Kariel's choice to venture to Eldre'Thalas, and Rimtori's attaining of the Kaldorei Tome of Summoning. Finding his remains completes the quest  [60] Elven Legends.
