Title <Innkeeper>
Race Ogre (Humanoid)
Level 48
Location The Hinterlands

Lard is a level 48 innkeeper located in Revantusk Village in the contested territory of the Hinterlands.

Before "Little" Logok was added in patch 2.3, Lard was the only ogre innkeeper in WoW.

He starts and ends the quest H [49] Lard Lost His Lunch.

The Revantusk Village Inn has two levels, the lower level is where Lard resides. It is on this level where you will not become rested, however it is where you will Hearth to if it is your home. You must climb to the second level of the Inn to get rested and get the "Triple Z's on your characters icon. Many players open tickets about this in an attempt to pass it as a bug without checking upstairs first.

See List of the Hinterlands NPCs.

Resemblances, Theories, Meanings

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

It has come to the attention of the World of Warcraft community that Lard was named that after the real word lard, meaning fat. Considering he is an Ogre and actually is fat it seems to fit quite well.

Lard, other than being called Lard, is always sitting. This could possibly because he is too fat/lazy/tired to actually stand. Also, he is the Innkeeper, a person who serves and deals with food and drink all the time. On top of it all, his one and only quest is of course food related. His quest, H [49] Lard Lost His Lunch talks about him eating, and then being too weak to defend himself from an ambush. Considering the size of his body and muscles, he could have done something to defend himself, but instead ran.

Some people have come to theorize that this is model of an obese person who may suffer from similar things depicted in Lard. An obese man who works with food, doesn't have the energy to stand, is somewhat cowardly, and thinks about food all the time (the quest being about Lard forgetting his lunch). Some people find this depiction offensive to people who actually suffer from similar disabilities, others find it mere coincidence.

Also, unlike more NPC's in World of Warcraft, Lard will not turn around to face you. When speaking to him he remains in his own position.
