Latro's Shifting Sword drops from Aeonus in The Black Morass in Caverns of Time.
- It may have once belonged to Latronicus Moonspear, as he is referred to as Latro by his wife Vestia Moonspear upon turning in the quest Delivering the Relic. Latronicus is also referred to as Latro by Ginro Hearthkindle immediately preceding the completion of the The Missing Courier quest.
- Another theory is that the item's name refers to the Night Elf Rogue 'Latro Abiectus' from the WoW TCG.
- Latronicus Moonspear is based on a character named "Latro Abiectus" from Everquest who was part of a regular group in the guild Kabald that played together on Solusek Ro, the Test Server and finally on the 7th Hammer servers. Latro was the guild leader of Kabald and Vestia was his real-life wife. Ginro Hearthkindle was a guild- and regular group- mate who played the characters "Ginesh" and "Kindle." Other Kabald guildmates can be found around WoW, including Gwennyth Bly'Leggond, Graccus, and Pratt. So, from a history perspective "Latronicus Moonspear" and "Latro Abiectus" are one and the same - though it's unknown whether they are intended to be the same character in-game.
This is the best off-hand sword for a Rogue to have, outside of PVP and Raiding, due to it's speed and beneficial stats.
