Lunar eclipse

From WoWWiki

(Redirected from Lunar Eclipse)

Lunar Eclipse is a term that describes the use of Wrath to proc the balance druid talent Eclipse. The term refers to the buff itself, not the rotation, and is a user created term.

Associated Rotation

A balance druid using a lunar eclipse rotation will generally start by casting faerie fire if it is in his specc, his two dots, and then being to cast Wrath until Eclipse procs, which will give the druid a 30% additional critical strike chance with his Starfire spell for 15 seconds, with another 15 seconds of downtime before Eclipse may proc again.

Applications

Since patch 3.1.0 changed Eclipse to increase the benefit it gives to wrath, lunar eclipse rotations are no longer always better than solar eclipse rotations. However, it is subjective and arguable whether or not a lunar or solar eclipse rotation is better. Generally, if the druid's haste rating is above 400, that druid will want to use a Lunar eclipse rotation. Even though both methods of proccing Eclipse rely on the RNG, lunar eclipse is even more a victim - the chance to proc Eclipse with Wrath is only 60% on a crit. This can cause a lot of grief and irritation, so it is easy to see how a solar eclipse would be more appealing to some.
