Mail armor is generally worn by Warriors and Paladins below 40th level, as well as Hunters and Shamans above 40th level. At 40th level both Warriors and Paladins get access to plate armor.
Chain Mail armor is second only to Plate armor in defensive points, it does however contain some very powerful item sets including:
- Chain of the Scarlet Crusade,[1] - Ideal for Levels 30-40
- The Elements,[2] - A high level, non-class specific set
- The Ten Storms,[3] - One of the most powerful Shaman sets available
Chain Mail arguably makes Shamans an unbalanced character class as most people argue they should be primarily a caster and support class. However, staying true to the 'Jack of All Trades' design of the Shamans it seems an appropriate decision.
