The shaman Mardrake once cast touch of life on his fallen ally Devania Moonwhisper, during a battle. The spell could only raise her briefly (for the duration of the spell). They continued to fight their enemy and sometime later Devania was slain again. He was able to raise her again but only with limited duration. Once the spell expired, she immediately dropped dead, as if she had never been raised. He could only restore permanent life to her through other spells such as resurrection.^[1]
