Mocking blow is the equivalent of Taunt when the warrior is in Battle Stance. It has a longer cool down, and costs 10 rage whereas Taunt is free. This means it can't be used as liberally as Taunt for generating aggro. Typically it is used when a high level mob is attacking a party member who has low health. If many mobs are attacking that party member, the better alternative is Challenging Shout.

Overview

Ability Warrior PunishingBlow

Pride, more than flesh, is easily stung.

Mocking blow is a bizarre taunt attack. It deals a small amount of damage and forces a target to attack you for a brief period of time. If you have problems Taunting an enemy off a party member, or don't have time to switch to defensive stance, this may be something useful.

Functionality

Mocking Blow is a 10 Rage ability that deals some damage and forces a target to attack you for six seconds. Unfortunately, it seems that after the six seconds, the mob resumes attacking whatever it was attacking previously. This is pretty much just an emergency ability to pull someone off a party member before switching to defensive stance and Taunting it. There are no Talents availible for this skill.

Use

 • Cast Cost: 10 Rage
 • Cast Time: Instant
 • Duration: 6 seconds (Taunt)
 • School and Damage Type: Physical
 • Targets/Positioning: Single target/front
 • Range: 5 yards (Melee)
 • Cooldown: 2 minutes
 • Stances: Ability warrior offensivestance [Battle Stance]

Rank 2 31 Damage 6 seconds 26 90
Rank 3 46 Damage 6 seconds 36 Template:Gs
Rank 4 71 Damage 6 seconds 46 Template:Gs
Rank 5 93 Damage 6 seconds 56 Template:Gs

Tips and Tactics

 • This is basically a powerful emergency taunt. Requires Spell nature enchantarmor [Tactical Mastery] to use well, since you need to switch to Ability warrior offensivestance [Battle Stance] to use it, then back to Ability warrior defensivestance [Defensive Stance] to tank. Nonetheless, this can be a very effective tactic if your taunt is resisted.
 • In PvP it's not very useful, as damage done is low, and hostile players won't be forced to attack you.

Mocking blow is the equivalent of Taunt when the warrior is in Ability warrior offensivestance [Battle Stance]. It has a longer cool down, and costs 10 rage whereas Taunt is free. This means it can't be used as liberally as Taunt for regaining aggro. Typically it is used when a high level mob is attacking a party member who has low health. If many mobs are attacking that party member, the better alternative is Ability bullrush [Challenging Shout].

This is one of the abilities that needn't be upgraded in rank, as the damage increases are not significant.
