Moneysink is a game mechanism that removes money from the virtual economy, usually to prevent a bloated money supply and inflation of prices of goods and services. This mechanism is effectively the opposite of income.

Without this mechanism, the money supply in a game would continually grow, thus giving players so much money to spend that even commonplace items might be sold for high prices due to the ease of accumulating money.
