HistoryEdit

Early LifeEdit

Morthrand grew up in Dun Morogh, under the guidance of his parents. His mother, Imli, was an expert with the mace, axe and especially the polearm. Under her training, he learned to wield the axe and mace. His father on the other hand was a mountaineer and explorer, who enjoyed his hikes. He also had several Gnomish friends and they would often discuss inventions and ideas. Because of this Morthrand also grew an interest in engineering.

When the second war broke out, Morthrand joined the Dwarven army as rifleman. During one particular battle where the Dwarves were being beaten back, human reinforcements arrived to aid them. Their commander at the time was Paladin and the uplifting effect of the paladin's presence inspired Morthrand to persue a simulair path. As the war came to its end, Morthrand approached the Silver Hand to join them. With persistance, he was eventually assigned to learn under William the True, a human who did not care about race or gender because these did not matter when it came to practicing the Holy Light, be it in times of war or peace.

Morthrand Ironbeard and William the True were in Lordaeron when the plague erupted. While they were fighting the undead at first, they switch their focus to evacuation. They protected farmers and the likes as they fled towards the south. They would occasionally combat the scourge along the way with surprisingly minor casualties. At the end, Ironbeard was knighted.

Recent YearsEdit

Several years later and Morthrand would join the Pillar of Faith, a militant arm of the church, as a squire to High Templar Cardinal Greymane. Morthrand remained in the Pillar of Faith to the very end and afterwards he would follow Greymane and the others to form the Ember Throne, where he became an Exarch. Of all the Exarchs, Morthrand was the least known as he kept himself out of politics, but also because he dealt with information and the occult which kept him fairly out of the picture compared to the tasks of the other Exarch.

After the disbandment of the Ember Throne, Morthrand went to the Outlands to study various things, for example the Dark Portal of Zangarmarsh. With the help of rumours, Avari Lucien found Morthrand and offered him a job as Field Scientist of the 1st Alliance Expeditionary Force (also known as the Brazen Sabres). His contributions include the protection of caravans, study on the Outland metals and the contruction of BS-GH-01 (also known as Big Bertha), a machine made to harvest Liftium.

After the disbanding of the Brazen Sabres, he would join Avari Lucien once again, this time under the banner of the new Order of the Silver Hand. Considering his experience, Morthrand became a Master Knight within the Silver Hand.

AppearanceEdit

This dwarf is adorned with orange-ish hair. Part of his hair is put in a ponytail. His massive beard and moustache are well-maintained.

Morthrand is often seen in battle-scarred plate armour of golden/yellow pigmentation and in general it's lacking in shine. Under his armour patches of green clothing appear. He always wears a green cape with hood. More obvious key items are: The goggles on his eyes which he rarely removes. The libram hanging on chains by his side. A holy stormhammer, in which a Holy Mightstone was constructed, bearing the Ironbeard coat of arms. A shield that has dull runes inscribed into it, also bearing the Ironbeard coat of arms.

Morthrand is also known to turn his skin to stone, grow in size and on extremely rare occasions develop a glow in his eyes from the Holy Light when empowered.

PersonalityEdit

Morthrand is curious of nature. This has caused frequent solo explorations and drives him to collect various trinkets from the past and other cultures. Morthrand is also a protective person, not wanting harm to befall his fellow men, especially friends and family.

Morthrand is not prone to talk about himself or anything associated with his history, like his family or childhood. Then again, it's not an oftenly asked question to him. When it comes to drinking he seems more sober then his fellow dwarves, refraining from chugging his alchohol down by the tankard. He does appear to have a preference to Thunderale though.
