Mothran is a giant moth created by Journeyman Chu at the Silken Fields^{[63.1, 57.5]}

in the Valley of the Four Winds. Though he intended to only increase silk production, the consequence was a giant, hostile moth and her equally dangerous children.

• Mothran is an obvious reference to Mothra of both film and Japanese novel fame. Like Mothran, Mothra is the result of genetic engineering (though by the Cosmos); unlike Mothran, Mothra is generally depicted as benevolent.
