Tips and tactics
- Multi-shot will indiscriminately pick the other 2 targets. While it will not strike friendly targets, it can strike neutral targets and cause them to attack you, or targets that are CCed. It may also attack Critters, which wastes one of the shots.
- Multi-Shot has always had a short cast time (even when it used to be labeled as an instant attack), and thus cannot be used while moving.
- Multi-shot deals exactly the same amount of damage as Aimed Shot. If you have specced Marksmanship, you should use Aimed Shot as default, since it does not have casting time and thus can be used while running. But when you face more than one enemy, you should pick Multi-Shot, becouse it can hit 3 targets (And thus deal triple damage) where Aimed Shot would hit one.
Patch changes
- As of patch 1.10 Aimed Shot and Multishot use a 2.8 second multiplier in its calculation of bonus damage from Ranged Attack Power, instead of weapon speed. Thus, ranged weapons slower than 2.8 speed will have their damage slightly reduced, while ranged weapons faster than 2.8 speed will have their damage slightly increased. Bows with a speed of 2.8 will be nearly unaffected.
The reason for this 'normalization' of weapon speeds amongst ranged weapons, was because of two particular slow blue weapons, the [Carapace Spine Crossbow] and the [Bloodseeker]. Both have a 3.3 weapon speed, and with enough attack power, the user could hit harder with these crossbows than slightly faster Epic weapons such as [Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers].
