Necrotic Strike is a death knight ability learned at level 83. It deals weapon damage and applies a debuff that absorbs an amount of healing based on the damage done.
This ability is meant to bring back some of the old flavor from when death knights could dispel heal-over-time (HoT) effects. It also gives the class a bit more PvP utility without simply replicating a [Mortal Strike]-style effect.
Patch changes
Patch 4.0.6 (8-Feb-2011): Necrotic Strike’s absorption effect is now reduced by the target’s resilience. In addition, its debuff duration has been reduced to 10 seconds, down from 15.
