Nether Vortex is a crafting material used in high-level Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and Tailoring recipes to create epic items at the 375 skill level of each profession. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Nether Vortex drops in the 25-player Serpentshrine Cavern raid instance.
Drops at Serpentshrine Cavern trash very rarly: Nightmare's Asylum dropped a Nether Vortex on the pre-hydross trash in Serpentshrine Cavern.
Lady Vashj also drops 2 Nether Vortex for Nihilim.
