Nightmares are a type of demonic creature that lives in the Twisting Nether, that are encountered alone or are ridden by night hag coveys.S&L 153,154 They are part of the forces of the Burning Legion.LG 118 Nightmares appear to include species such as the beastly gorgons, dreadsteeds, and felsteeds (see below).
Notes
Dreadsteeds can be found under the directory entitled "Nightmares", and subdirectory Gorgon101 in the World of Warcraft files. This implies that dreadsteeds, and certain gorgons are a type of nightmare.
Felsteeds are likely nightmares as well.
