Notable Horde areas and quests

From WoWWiki

Below are listed a few Horde-favoring areas and quests you might want to visit and do while leveling. Why? Simply because in these areas and for these quests either the rewards are really big, the quests are really easy, the quests are really close together, or you can get several quests done by killing the same group of mobs. Certain areas are also really good for a specific professions, or rare drops.

This article is not intended as a levelling guide. This article is not intended as a Places to Farm list to get certain materials however when certain creatures listed in these quests give notable items, for example the elemental earth in badlands, it is helpfull for some players to have it included. This article is not intended as a list of places to grind. Basically, If you ever thought something like "wow, i wish i knew beforehand that i could do 'this, this and that' <here> together" you probably found a notable area and you're encouraged to expand the list.

1 to 10

Unless you have a strong dislike for the aesthetic in your starting zone, or have done it several times before with different characters, you're probably better off levelling from 1-10 in your starting zone (Eversong Woods, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades or Mulgore). Incidentally, try to remain in your actual starting area until at least level 4- at very low levels you'll have real difficulty killing mobs much above your level. If you do want to switch areas, all horde starting zones are connected so as to allow travel between them quite easily without going through high-level areas. Forsaken can walk to the Undercity easily. Orcs and Trolls can leave the Valley of Trials south through the Hidden Path to Ratchet and then fly to the Undercity, blood elves can travel to Silvermoon. Orgrimmar has a zeppelin to Thunder Bluff. Silvermoon and the Undercity are conncted via the Orb of Translocation. Durotar and Tirisfal Glades are connected by Zeppelin.

10 to 20

If you have TBC you might want to level from 10 to 20 in the area called Ghostlands for several reasons

1. If you pick up the questchain that starts with The Farstrider Enclave and ends with The Traitor's Destruction you will find that the questreward for the final quest is a nice shiny blue weapon ([Staff of the Sun] or [Farstrider's Longbow] or [Dawnblade] or [Sin'dorei Warblade]).

2. After this you are or soon will be Exalted with Tranquillien and you can pick up [Tranquillien Champion's Cloak] for about 25s .

Also note there are 4 quests notably close together in the troll area southeast Attack on Zeb'Tela , Shadowpine Weaponry, A Little Dash of Seasoning and Bring Me Kel'gash's Head!.

20 to 30

Hillsbrad Foothills is the most obvious zone for leveling, but be carefull on PvP severs ( Ashenvale and Thousand Needles is a alternative). There is a nice Quest:Battle of Hillsbrad questchain and some other quests available in Tarren Mill. The main two area's you'll find yourself fighting is the Hillsbrad Fields including the Azurelode Mine and the surrounding area for the bears and spiders and lions. The other area of focus is Durnholde Keep. Also visit the yeti cave although likely you will be asked to quest there just before you venture into Alterac Mountains. Note that on one of the last parts of the battle of hillsbrad questchain you get send to Dun Garok and when you get to that part also fetch Quest:Humbert's Sword from Dun Garok. Note the dwarf habitating Dun Garok were elite before the 2.3 patch.

30 to 40

30 to 35

Continue on the quests you can get from Tarren Mill and complete them in Alterac Mountains, two major areas are around Dalaran and in and north of Ruins of Alterac

35 to 40

Around level 35 you might want to venture out onto Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles because this area is not only good for grinding but for every creature here there is a quest available at the racetrack, just pick all the quests up and walk a couple of big rounds. Besides the creatures there are also 30 [Rocket Car Parts] to pick up

When you picked up all the car parts first you're send to ratchet and booty bay (dont forget to pick up the fp). when in booty bay it is recommended to drop the quest of hemmingway in Stranglethorn Vale (pick up the fp at grom'gol) and continue to Swamp of Sorrows (obviously pick up the fp there too). In swamp of sorrows you can also pick up a quest that will get you send to badlands. Fly back to Grom'gol Base Camp and go to Undercity by zeppelin and make your way down to badlands for the early level 40's. Bring along 1 [Frost Oil] for Coolant Heads Prevail, 1 [Gyrochronatom] for Gyro... What? and 1 [Patterned Bronze Bracers] for Stone Is Better than Cloth. you can let friends make these or buy these items from the auction. The quest Gyro... What? will continue with another quest where the reward is [Nifty Stopwatch]

40 to 50

40 to 45

As noted at the end of 30-40 and questing in thousand needles you will have two quests to complete in badlands after visiting swamp of sorrows. Additionally badlands is quitte a nice place for a few levels. after Martek the Exiled you will probably like to continue with Study of the Elements: Rock , Barbecued Buzzard Wings ,Coyote Thieves and Badlands Reagent Run (Horde) , they are all pretty close to eachother and close to inn. Additionally the elementals are a good place for getting [Elemental Earth], the coyote and such are really good sources for skinning, also the coyote have a good drop rate for the Darkmoon Faire related [Soft Bushy Tail]. the quests named above all share creatures needed to kill (elementals for study and reagent, buzzards for reagents and cooking quest, coyote for reagents and thiefes). additionally this is a good place for herbing and mining but also for grinding.

[Staff of Jordan] is a world drop in badlands, so if you're extremely lucky you might get one of those as well.

Also, be careful to avoid the level 55 buzzard and the patrolling ogre boss that travels with an escort of ogres and you'll be fine.

45 to 50

The area Tanaris has many quests for the level range of 45 to 55.

50 to 60

The area Silithus is a easy place to level , it's full of quests and easy mobs. But it's a PvP-zone, so if you don't like PvPing you should do Burning Steppes.
