A broad-faced, nocturnal bird known to hunt rodents and reptiles. Owls look different from most birds in that they have wide faces, short curved beaks and large, front-facing eyes. Owls are found throughout Teldrassil, Felwood and Winterspring. In Alterac Valley, the Alliance has befriended the owls. Owls have also been found in Outland, though under different names: The brown and black Kaliri in Hellfire Peninsula (a species of bird raised by the Arakkoa), and the brown Windrocs in Nagrand have been discovered so far.
An Alliance player can purchase two types of owls as "vanity pets" from a vendor before the gates to Darnassus:
As A Hunter Pet
- Has high damage, medium HP, and low armor.
- Eats only Meat.
- Can learn Claw,
[Cower], 
[Growl], [Dive], and their special skill, [Screech]. - Only found in Teldrassil until level 48. Some lower-level Horde hunters sneak into Teldrassil to tame an owl earlier.
