The recipe is sold by Alchemist Pestlezugg <Alchemy Supplies> in Tanaris for 80 .
Notes
- The Stone must be in the Alchemist's inventory before a transmutation can be performed, and is not consumed by the transmutation. Most transmutations have a long cooldown (20 hours). Multiple Stones do not allow an Alchemist to perform more rapid transmutations.
- Was originally called Alchemist's Stone back in beta.
- When changed to Philosopher's Stone every recipe requiring it was changed except Flask of Petrification. This change was made in the same beta patch that introduced the level 60 level cap. Sometime in September 2004.
- This was later fixed in Retail. Sometime in April of 2005.
Patch 2.4
- Following the release of patch 2.4, this item was given a major upgrade. Prior to this patch it was a Bind on Pickup item that was required for alchemical transmutations and needed to be in an alchemist's bags to use it. With patch 2.4, it was upgraded to a Unique trinket that gave +5 to all stats and required level 35 to equip while retaining its previous abilities. This is not only a powerful trinket for this level, it also frees up inventory space.
