Daily cooking quests were introduced in the Bc icon expansion, and additional quests have also been added with the Wrath-Logo-Small expansion as well. The Dalaran cooking dailies require 350 cooking skill and level 65, while the Shattrath cooking dailies only require 275 cooking skill but require level 70. The Cataclysm expansion brings with it Orgrimmar and Stormwind dailies which require level 10. Patch 4.1.0 expanded this by adding similar daily quests to Darnassus, Ironforge, Thunder Bluff and the Undercity.

If you seek to complete the Meta-achievement Money achievement Hail to the Chef, the cooking dailies are required to complete several of the objectives.

Orgrimmar/Stormwind Dailies

When completing the Orgrimmar/Stormwind cooking dailies, you receive Chef's Awards which are used to purchase high quality recipes or a Inv crate 04 [Crate of Tasty Meat].

Each daily awards 1 or 2 Chef's Awards and +1 or +2 to your cooking skill, with the amount depending on the quest. Note that the quest rewards are not identical between cities; the Stormwind daily quest might offer 1 award and +2 cooking skill on the same day that the Ironforge one might offer the reverse.

Recipes

A good tip when completing the Shattrath cooking dailies is to always choose the Inv crate 05 [Crate of Meat] as your reward, until you have all recipes available from it, because it might contain items you need for your next daily cooking quest. When you have all of the recipes Crate of Meat has to offer, switch to Inv cask 01 [Barrel of Fish] in order to obtain the remaining recipes.
