Arcane Disturbances is one of two quests that you pick up to start the quest chain that eventually leads to your acquiring [The Master's Key]. The questgiver also gives you the other pre-requisite quest, Restless Activity at the same time, which you can easily complete at the same time.

Objectives Edit

Use the Violet Scrying Crystal near underground sources of water in the Master's Cellar and return to Archmage Alturus outside of Karazhan.

Description Edit

I'm trying to obtain an imprint of Karazhan's energy... for a personal project, of course. Unfortunately, I'm not getting anything up here. If I could get near an underground water source, my crystal would pick up the signals much more clearly.

I've heard of an underground pond as well as a well in a cellar below us. This whole place is crawling with ghosts however, and venturing there would be hazardous for someone my age. What do you say; will you help an old man and perform the scrying for me?

These readings do not bode well, <name>. Karazhan should be emanating all manner of arcane currents... instead it has become a huge energy vacuum. No signals. Nothing. Except for a very faint demonic echo.

This is bad news, <name>.

Notes Edit

• There are two staircases down into the cellars. They are both in different ruined buildings just to your left as you face the quest-giver. The openings are a bit obscured by the walls to the buildings.

• The well is down the furthest stairs. Go down the steps and the ramps to the huge room at the bottom, and hang a right. The well is on your right when you finally get to the room at the end of that long hallway.

• The pond is down the closer stairs. Go down, drop down the hole into the caverns, and, well, you'll see it on your minimap, a large blue area.
• Apparently you have to be standing in a certain spot^{[43.8, 77.4]}
