A realm is an instance of the World of Warcraft (WoW) game world. Realms are hosted on physical devices called servers (for this reason, the terms "realm" and "server" are often used interchangeably). This prevents any one realm from becoming too crowded and overwhelming its associated server, provides for better connection times by allowing players to connect to local servers, allows for localized communities based on language, and to appeal to different play-styles for different users.
This quest is obtained by speaking to a Blood Elf outside of Blackrock Depths named Lothos Riftwaker. It is necessary to complete this quest so that you may enter Molten Core. Once Completed, Lothos Riftwaker will teleport you directly inside.

  +
To play WoW, you must first choose a server (realm) to play on. You then connect to this realm over the Internet. Blizzard has servers in the US, Europe, China, and Korea.

The entrance is just off the path to General Angerforge, and people will often do Attunement to the Core during A shred of hope, which is part of the Drakefire Amulet, better known as the Onyxia key quest line.

According to the North American realm status page, there are 241 total NA realms. Of these 113 are Normal (PvE) servers, 105 are PvP, 17 are RP, and 6 are RPPvP. For Europe, there are 109 English speaking realms, 87 German, 37 French, 11 Spanish, and 19 Russian, for a total of 263 realms. This breaks down into 99 Normal (PvE), 129 PvP, 20 RP, and 15 RPPvP servers.

* A way to get past the Shadowforge Door. Any of these will do:

** The Shadowforge Key

** Lockpicking

** A friend who can use his key or pick the locks. This is only for the 3 doors a the very start and won't take more than a minute.

** A lot of patience and patrol dodging skills

** Power Word: Shield

** Healing Potions

Part 1 - Get Past the Shadowforge Door
Without Key or Lockpicking
You can use an invisibility potion or prowl/stealth to sneak the guards toward the entrance, head up straight to the arena by avoiding the demon hounds (who see through stealth). Once done, step in the middle of the arena to activate the normal event, head back to the arena entrance and stick up to the iron gate that closed behind you. There are some random mobs that will come from the door on the right. These mobs will despawn after 5 minutes opening mysteriously the door on the left, giving access to the Garrisons. Use another potion/prowl/stealth there to sneak up to the opening downstairs and you will be able to jump down on path to the bridge leading to Lord Incendius.

From the entrance, turn left and open the door. Bypass or kill the patrolling elemental. Keep right and open the second door. Open the third door immediately on your left. There is a single fireguard patrolling the stairs on your right. Avoid the patrol and go up the stairs.

  +
Test
Your goal is the window in the hallway around the corner and down the hall to your left. You will have to run through three packs of mobs and you will aggro them. Quickly make a break for it, being sure to use any avoidance/damage mitigation measures you have, including fear. Run past all the mobs, run down the hall, make a quick left, and then jump through the first window on the right. As soon as you make it out the window, all the mobs will de-aggro you.

For the adventurous, there is also a Test Realm that is periodically available in which players can try experimental features in development before they get released as general patches. Test realms often exist in both PvE and PvP varieties.

Jump down, keeping to the edge, cross halfway between the patrol and the elementals, and then scoot to the middle of the bridge. You can walk between the first two sets of elementals. Pause before the last set of elementals and watch Lord_Incendius doing laps around the Black Anvil. Wait until he is pathing away from you. Quickly run in and make an immediate left off the bridge and into the lava.

Repeatedly jumping up out of the lava as you move seems to save some damage, so try and do this whenever possible. Your next goal is the wall of the cavern, and it is only a few steps on your left. Follow this wall north around the cavern, passing one island, until you are on a small bluff overlooking a second island with Four Fireguard Destroyers. You will be able to see the destroyers only when correctly positioned on the bluff, so use that as a guide. The island is underneath the bridge to Molten Core that is your ultimate destination.

Now you need to cross the lava and stand on the edge of that island. There are several Fireguard Destroyers patrolling around in the lava between you and the island that can be extremely difficult to spot. The best and easiest way to get past this is to invite a friend or guildmate so that you are in a party, tab target them, and then put a marker above their heads so that you can easily dodge their patrol path. If you don't have any friends, you'll simply have to use trial and error.

Once you have an opening, jump out into the lava and swim, while jumping, to the edge of the island, out of aggro range of the elementals there. Take a breather and heal up. Your final goal is in sight. Wait for the Fireguard nearest you to path to the right, and then jump back into the lava on the left side. Continue north through the lava until you make it to the ramp leading up to the bridge. Hug the right wall very tightly, as you come out very close to a front elemental which will be on your left side as you go up the ramp. You now stand before the bridge to Molten Core.

Use another invisibility potion to get past the three elementals and cross halfway across the bridge. At the far side are three more elementals. Wait 10 minutes for the cooldown on the invisibility potion to expire and use another to get past the second pack of elementals.

The core fragment is a stalagmite on the left next to the Molten Core instance entrance. Use it to get quest item.

After gaining the fragment, you can exit Blackrock Depths by inviting someone, converting to raid, then entering Molten Core and immediately exiting. It'll exit the instance and bring you right to Lothos Riftwalker where you can turn in the quest for your reward.

Congratulations! You are now Attuned to the Molten Core!

Realm selection screen for North American realms

A realm is an instance of the World of Warcraft (WoW) game world. This prevents any one realm from becoming too crowded and overwhelming its associated server, provides for better connection times by allowing players to connect to local servers, allows for localized communities based on language, and to appeal to different play-styles for different users.

To play WoW, you must first choose a server (realm) to play on. You then connect to this realm over the Internet. Blizzard has servers in the US, Europe, China, and Korea.

Types

According to the North American realm status page, there are 241 total NA realms. Of these 113 are Normal (PvE) servers, 105 are PvP, 17 are RP, and 6 are RPPvP.
