In Deviate Hides, you must enter the Wailing Caverns and kill deviate creatures, then loot their corpses for [Deviate Hides]. Since one of the rewards is a fairly good sack for this level ([Deviate Hide Pack] 10 slot bag), this is a highly desirable quest especially if you are planning on doing Wailing Caverns anyway. Note: skinning helps on this quest as you can get more [Deviate Hides] after skinning a creature, but it is not necessary.

Details
Many people have trouble finding this NPC. He, and another quest giving NPC, are located in a cave ABOVE the entrance to the Wailing Caverns. To get to them, you need to go around to the mountain behind the cave and climb up until you can get to the roof of the cave. Then walk along the edge towards the front (facing the oasis) and carefully drop onto the ledge below. If you succeed, you should see several NPCs, all disciples of Naralex. This may take several tries.
The monsters you must kill for this quest are found throughout the Wailing Caverns, so it's best to do this quest along with other Wailing Caverns quests.
Description
As Naralex descended deeper into his nightmare, a strange breed of beasts arose from beneath the Barrens into the Wailing Caverns.
These deviate creatures have strange, otherworldly properties. While evil in nature, it is my opinion that some good can come from their existence here in Kalimdor. I believe their hides will be of particular use in the ways of leatherworking.
If you feel up to the task, venture into the caves below and retrieve some deviate hides.
