Hardened Shells is a neutral quest from the Mirage Raceway in which the player collects [Hardened Tortoise Shells] for one of the gnomes to use as a gas tank for his racer.

How to Get This Quest
Mirage Raceway is in the center of the Shimmering Flats in eastern Thousand Needles. Talk to the gnome Wizzle Brassbolts there to receive the quest.

Details
The shells drop from turtles all around the Shimmering Flats. Particularly good success has been reported in the north-eastern part of the flats near an old ship, around the coordinates (82, 56). The turtles are non-hostile, which is nice since they gather in a large group there.
Once you have gathered 9 [Hardened Tortoise Shells] head back to Wizzle Brassbolts at the Mirage Raceway at the center of the Shimmering Flats.
Description
My brother is working on a new fuel for his rocket car. He's brilliant, he really is. So brilliant that... I think that new fuel he's designing is strong enough to eat right through the car's chassis!
I want to reinforce its fuel tanks before that happens.
The tortoises out on the flats have very hard shells. I want to use them to create new tanks for our rocket car. Tanks that can hold my brother's new fuel.
You look responsible enough. Will you get me those shells?
