Taming the Beast (Orc and Troll 2) is the second pet taming quest in the chain of three for hunters in the Orc and Troll starting area of Durotar. It has the hunter capture a Surf Crawler for use as a pet.

Objectives

Use the Taming Rod to tame a Surf Crawler. Practice your skills, then return the Taming Rod to Thotar in Razor Hill.

Description

The advantage a pet affords you against your rivals is duly noted, <name>. When you gain control over another creature, you are adding to your own strength. Your pet must become an extension of yourself.

The next task requires you to turn from the land; you will find the next creature in the waters off the coast. Across from Sen'jin Village, near the Echo Isles. look for a spirited crab called the surf crawler. Use the taming rod to tame it, then practice your skills.
