This quest concludes the introduction to [The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] quest chain to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.

Completion

Eranikus, Vaelastrasz, and Azuregos... No doubt you know of these dragons, mortal. It is no coincidence, then, that they have played such influential roles as watchers of our world.

Unfortunately (and my own naivety is partially to blame) whether by agents of the Old Gods or betrayal by those that would call them friend, each guardian has fallen to tragedy. The extent of which has fueled my own distrust towards your kind.

Seek them out... And <race>, prepare yourself for the worst.

Gains

Upon completion of this quest you will gain:

  • 650 XP (or 39s at level 70)

Notes

It would appear that the quest chain ends at the conclusion of this quest. However, Neutral IconSmall DragonBronze Anachronos gives you a hint that the Scepter was divided into four shards, with the assumption that Anachronos himself still holds one of the four.

Outside of the Bronze dragonflight, of which Anachronos is a part, and the Black dragonflight, of whose leader on Azeroth would have preferred the shards destroyed, the other three flights players had easy access to when this quest was introduced were the Blue, Green and Red flights.

As a level 60 player attempting this quest would have progressed at least partway through Blackwing Lair before even starting the chain, said player would have easily recognized powerful members of the three flights in the forms of Mob IconSmall DragonBlue Azuregos, Mob IconSmall DragonGreen Eranikus and Mob IconSmall DragonRed Vaelastrasz. The Scepter quest chain thus splits in to three forks:

Search the area for the 7th Legion telescope.

Objectives

Use the 7th Legion Telescope to Scout the Harbor.

Description

<The F.C.D. buzzes.>

Look around the Cathedral Quarter. There should be a telescope nearby that the 7th Legion uses for spying. Find it and use it to scout the harbor. We need to find out how the 7th Legion got past our fleet.

Hurry, <name>. We can't hold these beasts back much longer.

We've been torpedoed!

<The F.C.D. crackles with electricity.>

TORPEDOED! We have everything at the water line covered, but nothing below the line. They must have snuck in beneath our defenses and then blown our warships to smithereens.

And now the rest of the Alliance fleet is nearly here...

Notes

Interacting with the telescope shows a submarine with 7th Legioners and Halford Wyrmbane and approaching Alliance ships.

Alliance reinforcements have arrived.
