The Hawk's Essence is part of the Druid's Swift Flight Form quest chain.
<Arthorn's voice addresses you.>
I believe this description best matches the island we know as Sorrow Wing Point.
The tablet describes the hawk's guardian as nearly invulnerable to the bird's claws. Forsake physical attacks and call down the fury of the stars to defeat this foe. Do not repeat the hawk's mistake.
Did you overcome the hawk's guardian and win its essence?
Now that we have all the essences, Morthis Whisperwing must find a way to combine them into an amulet that you'll be able to use to challenge the raven god, draw him out of the Emerald Dream and defeat him. I'll be sending him my notes on the spirits with the hope that he'll realize the value of my insight.
Each of the spirits has blessed a charm I've prepared for you.
Upon completion of this quest you will gain:
Sorrow Wing Point is a large island very close to due south from Lake Ere'Noru, where you fought the Falcon guardian. The Shrine of the Hawk [45, 92] is on the east side of the central peak. When you summon him, don't panic when you see he has 50k HP. He CAN be overcome, it just requires the right tactic.
This guardian melees for about 1,000 damage on average, putting you very much at a disadvantage in melee. However, his ranged damage is comparably weak. He does do a version of Viper Sting (drains mana) and Curse of Blood (doubles damage done to you), which can be countered by Abolish Poison and Remove Curse respectively.
This guardian take enormous amounts of damage from magic, and if your casting criticals, it does even more. A report of Roots doing 300 damage every 3 seconds, Wrath doing 2650, Moonfire doing 1850, and Starfire doing 4200 may well understate the case. Recent experience, with moderate-good casting gear, had Starfire doing 10-12k per strike. This makes the fight fairly short despite his having some 50k HP.
Regardless of how you are spec'd, then, this fight is a "Root and Nuke". Recast Roots in time to prevent the guardian from getting melee attacks off against you.
