"For Lordaeron!" "For Khaz Modan!" "For the Horde!" Azeroth has heard them all.^[1]

Battle Shout is the first shout a warrior receives, learned at level 20. Costs no Rage while providing 20 Rage. As a shout buff, it affects all party members in its range, increasing Strength and Agility.

Improvements

[Booming Voice] reduces the cooldown and increases the amount of rage generated.

[Glyph of Battle] increases the duration by 2 minutes.

Notes

Only one shout may be active from the same warrior.

Does not stack with [Horn of Winter]] (Death Knight), [Roar of Courage] (Hunter pets) or [Strength of Earth Totem] (Shaman).

Tips and Tactics

Keep this active all the time. If a longer duration buff exists (see notes) then shout should be used for the 20 rage.

Combined with the talent Booming Voice (which is early enough in the Fury tree that any warrior can obtain it) this ability becomes a very potent rage generator. Without the talent, the shout has a 1 minute cooldown and generates 20 rage (20 rage per minute). With the talent, the shout has a 30 second cooldown and generates 30 rage (60 rage per minute). Combined with [Execute], [Heroic Strike] or [Cleave], this can be a DPS increase.

Patch changes

Patch 3.2.0 (2009-08-04): Radius increased to 30 yards.
Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14):
- Battle Shout now affects ranged AP as well as melee.
- Attack power has been slightly decreased.
Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05): Threat generation changed (see above).
Patch 1.6.0 (2005-07-12):
Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): Rage cost reduced.
