Objectives

Toshley would like you to use the Light Trap to catch 15 Razaani Light Orbs. Return to him at Toshley's Station in the Blade's Edge Mountains after you have done so.

Provided item:

Quest Text

The Razaani ethereals have been playing with some interesting technology at Razaan's Landing to the north.

I'm sure they won't mind if you use this trap to take a few samples of their little pink floating light orbs? They're probably only for decoration anyway.

The trap has a special property to it that when opened should attract one of the floating balls towards it. Of course, it'll probably also alert the Razaani to your presence.

Completion

Hey! Wait just one damned minute!!

This doesn't look good...

Rewards

  • 11650 XP (Translated to 6g 99s  at 70)
  • 3g 70s  (for a total of 10g 69s  at 70)

Notes

Placing the light trap will draw the nearest Razaani Light Orb from a moderate distance away. It will also attract Razaani ethereals from a somewhat greater distance away.

The trap is usable while in combat, so if you spot a light orb passing by, you can trap it without exiting combat first.

Flesh Beasts wander the area. They start out passive (yellow), but if they get close to the Razaani equipment, they are zapped with a pink ray, and become aggressive.

The orbs generally respawn much faster than the mobs, so once you've cleared (or found) a spot, you can capture the orbs fairly rapidly.

The quest title is a variation of "Tripping the light fantastic", originally from a poem by John Milton, and used in a variety of ways since.

Possible reference to Terry Pratchet's Discworld novel "The Light Fantastic".

The light trap itself is highly reminiscent of the ghost trap from the movie "Ghost Busters".
