Questing in Northshire

This page is a guide for efficiently completing the quests in the human starting area of Northshire Valley.
- First get the opening kobold quest, after you leave the abbey and are headed to the kobolds, there is a man named Elgen Peltskinner; he has a quest that you can also do dealing with the wolves. For the kobolds, kill 10 Kobold Vermin; for the wolves, collect 8 Wolf Meat. Both very simple tasks and you get 25
for the kobolds and either cloth shoes or leather bracers for the wolf meat. Sell all the loot you collect, upgrade your armor as best you can and move on to part 2.
- Second, get the second quest for the kobolds; this time kill the ones in blue. Also get the quest for the defias masks that is offered by the guard you first met at the beginning of the game. Start with the kobolds - if you are close to leveling up, spend the extra time leveling up before you head to the defias. The defias are across the river to the east of the abbey. Be carful not to take on too many at one time, as they can really gang up on you. If you get into trouble, just run back across the river and wait until you are back to full strength. After taking care of the Defias Masks, return to the abbey; you get 40 for the kobolds phase 2 and a decent weapon for the masks. Sell all the extra loot and get ready for the tough one, phase 3.
- The last round of quests seems complicated, but it is pretty straightforward. You start by getting the third and last kobold quest, the ones in the mine. Also get the 2 quests offered by the guard: Milly's Harvest and Bounty on Garrick Padfoot. Then run to the back of the abbey and speak to Milly about her harvest. When you do, you find out that you have to get 8 bushels of grapes for her harvest from the defias. Wait on that and take care of the kobolds. After disposing of the required number of those, run back across the river to the defias-held area. Make your way to the orchard in the middle of the area; be slow and methodical when you go though here. Find a barrel near you and kill all the bad guys around it. Then collect the harvest and try to make your way deeper into the orchard, because at the end of the harvest you want to head to the area behind the orchard. Behind the orchard, a little to the left is the small shack of Garrick Padfoot. He has a bodyguard, so try and start the fight on your terms, not theirs. After taking Garrick's head, use your Hearthstone and in a few seconds you are back in front of the abbey (I use the hearthstone so I don’t have to try and fight my way back to the river which can get messy). Return Garrick's head to the guard then run back to Milly - return her harvest and she gives you a quest to see Brother Neals at the top of the abbey. Head back to Marshal Dughan and turn in the kobold quest; he gives you a letter and tells you to head to Goldshire. Make sure you have room in your pack for the letter. Then run up the spiral staircase to Brother Neals and give him the manifest; he gives you a good cloak. Head back down and you're done. Northshire is now a distant memory and you can move on to bigger and better things. On your way out is a person who gives you an invitation to see the innkeeper at Goldshire - make sure you have room for that letter as well.
- Northshire is a quick place if you do those 3 quest runs in that order. If you need a bit of extra money before you head out, fill your bags with wolf parts - those are a good way to make some extra Money.
