Series Two
From WoWWiki
Series Two (aka second variant) is the term that titan scientists used when referring to the second race experiments in creating earthen. The first series of experiments conducted in Bael Modan and other places resulted in the creation of troggs. Troggs are the outcome of their mistaken first attempt at crafting a mortal race of guardians from living stone for Azeroth.HPG 242 Series Two is considered successful (or at least acceptable) in the point of view of some (particularly from the point of view of the dwarves, Acheras the Custodian, and the Lore Keeper of Norgannon).
The Series Two experiment resulted in the creation of earthen known as dwarves. They are the "successful" conclusion of the titan's second experiments, but look different after thousands of years of evolution (but are not recognizable to the titans or their guardians).HPG 242 Series Two earthen are susceptible to the Curse of Flesh. Many of the Series Two earthen can be found in Uldaman. According to the Lorekeeper of Norgannon, the "Creators" in Uldaman viewed the dwarf as an acceptable variant of the earthen, worthy of genesis in its own right.
Further research in Ulduar lead to a new generation of earthen constructed via the Forge of Wills in Ulduar with systems instituted to prevent the Curse of Flesh.[1]

This is actually proved somewhat false. Series Two were only slightly more successful than Series One in that they didn't turn into troggs but proved to be susceptible to the Curse of Flesh turning them into modern dwarves. Thus, they are defective forms, as the Curse of Flesh was never intentional. The third series of earthen are immune to the Curse.[2]
