This realm is infamous for the Argent Dawngnome raids. These events would occur when the server has unbearable lag or goes down. Many, sometimes hundreds, of Blackrock players create level 1 gnomes on the Argent Dawn role playing realm and raid Ironforge, spamming text in chat channels and annoying players. The majority of players joined a guild named <Blackrock Exiles> with the requirement to join as a level 1 pink haired Gnome. Raids on Hogger, an elite NPC near Stormwind were conducted, where 40 level 1 Gnomes would kill the level 7 elite, and perform just like an endgame guild would- distributing the green item as if it were epic. Contrary to popular belief this was not a valid role playing event. The Blackrock denizens would disrupt Argent Dawn, usually by creating characters with vulgar names and spamming the server's Alliance trade channels with sophomoric humor or atlasloot links of Thunderfury. This behavior greatly annoyed the Argent Dawn population. With numerous complaints and petitions from the Argent Dawn community, the guild <Blackrock Exiles> was removed by Blizzard, and all members in it would have a black silhouette in the armory. Rebuilt as <Exiles of Blackrock> much later in The Burning Crusade, with hundreds again joining as level 1 gnomes, the antics continued and later, in Wrath of the Lich King, <Blackrock Exiles> was reformed on Argent Dawn with the requirement to join as Gnome Deathknights, which continues to this day.
Blackrock has long been home to some of the most elite PvPers in the Warcraft community. Beginning in Vanilla WoW, a couple of Blackrock's guilds competed in the Battlegroup 9 Warsong Gulch League. This league influenced one of the decorated guilds in the US to transfer to Blackrock, a Horde guild named Nurfed. Teams forged by Nurfed and an Alliance guild named Eminence laid a foundation for a strong PvP atmosphere on Blackrock.
At the beginning of TBC and arenas, Blackrock had a strong showing along with Tichondrius in the arena ladders. Practically every top team was either from Tichondrius or Blackrock (with a couple from Kil'jaeden). Due to Bloodlust's infamous PvP scene, at the beginning of Season 2, teams from all over North America have flocked to this Battlegroup and the most competitive arena ladders began.
After WOTLK began, Blackrock was again a hotbed for PvPers during this expansion. The server really became the epicenter of WoW PvP when an epic battle for rank 1 took place. Both teams were the first to reach the 3000 rating in the world and a showdown between Reckful/Euneek/Fuzionn of Blackrock and Yog/Douja/Woundman of Tichondrius. Reckful's team defeated the Tichondrius team, and created a lot of hype that influenced arena enthusiasts from all over the nation to come to Blackrock.
