Overview
"Welcome to Booty Bay, partner. Don't mind DeMeza and her crew... we let the hellion run riot one day a year, Pirate's Day, and then she leaves us in peace to go plunder the South Seas again."
- The Blackwater Raiders for which the realm is named are the group of pirates led by Baron Revilgaz in Booty Bay.
The World of Warcraft is a "Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game," an online role-playing experience set in the Warcraft universe, where players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. World of Warcraft allows thousands of players to interact at the same time on a single server. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory. Online since October 5, 2006, Blackwater Raiders is a US-based RP server. World of Warcraft - Blackwater Raiders operates on US Pacific Time, or UTC -8:00 (-7:00 during Daylight Savings).
Guilds of Blackwater Raiders
Guilds are often classified according to their primary goal - Raid Guilds, Social Guilds, PvP Guilds, and Roleplaying Guilds.
- Raid Guild
- A raid guild goal is to farm end-game content for the very best equipment available in the game. Current examples of high-end content include Naxxramas, the Obsidian Sanctum, the Eye of Eternity and Ulduar. Raid guilds are designed around a core player base in order to run content without the assistance of other guilds or PuGs. Important factors to distinguish are:
- Attendance - raid guilds will usually have regular, sometimes strict schedules, and will require participation is a certain percentage of regularly scheduled events.
- Loot Distribution - loot can be awarded by simple /roll, Loot council, Suicide Kings, and DKP or Dragon Kill Points. It is important to understand your system in advance.
- Required Level, Talents or Gear - character levels, level of gear, raid experience, connection stability, maturity and other factors are consideration for and sometimes conditions of membership.
- Pitfalls of a raid guild can include serious attitude problems and abusive behavior. The average life expectancy of the BWR raid guild is approximately four to six months.
- Social Guild
- A social guild is a guild where the members are friendly with each other (and often know one another outside the game) and play more to make friends or enjoy the game than to prepare for a raid. They are usually small guilds housing between 20-100 members. The members are friendly, generally caring and attentive, and fun to be with. They often help new members and are not afraid to invite members with little game experience if they are good people. Their officers may have wide-sweeping authority or access to guild resources, and will generally share their resources and promote their friends.
- Leveling - many social guilds get together to quest, run instances and eventually may delve into raiding if they have a larger player base.
- Pitfalls of a social guild can include rampant favoritism resulting in hurt feelings.
- Roleplaying Guild
- RP guilds concentrate on roleplaying, and are generally found only on dedicated roleplay servers. Guild chat may be in-character, and members are encouraged to behave as their character would in game situations, and adhere strictly to the rules of a Roleplaying realm. As a roleplay server, BWR has a number of roleplay guilds, each aligned for different reasons and with their own history.
- Story History - many roleplay guilds have a history as long as the game history, which can provide hours of additional enrichment as the player inherits new information about the game, from that guild's perspective.
- "Character History - roleplay guilds may require the submission of a character history for review. Just as a raid guild will evaluate a potential new member, roleplay guilds will have the same if not more responsibility.
- Pitfalls of a roleplay guild can include behavior problems, and god-moding (the act of taking control of someone else's character through illegitimate means)
- PvP Guild
- PvP guilds focus on player versus player content in the Battleground and Arena settings, in addition to World PvP and city raids. It's not uncommon for members of a good PvP guild to be the only players in the top PvP spots. These guilds are a great place to find arena team members. They are also ideal for people for whom PvP is the main allure of the game.
- Pitfalls of a PvP guild are generally the same as raiding guilds.
- Leveling Guild
- These guilds are often very large and are designed to help new players or alts level up. They usually consist of a very large range of levels, from lowbies to people in their 70s and a good number of 80s. This type of guild is a great place to find players to quest and do instances with as you level up, but is not a good place to find partners for end-game content. Sometimes these guilds have a tendency towards immaturity due to their size and general inclusiveness.
Blackwater Raiders server is a non-aligned server, compromised of raiding guilds, family & friend guilds, and roleplay guilds. While progression on the server as a whole has been relatively poor, there are some few guilds whose individual progression place them among the best players in the World of Warcraft. To join the guild table, please post to the appropriate thread on the official realm forums. Sorry, but Guild Portal and other .aspx web templates are not compatible with wowWiki, and will not display correctly.
Guild Progression - The Wrath of the Lich King
General raid progression information can be found both on the official realm forums and Blackwater Raiders Guild Progression. Currently two ranking systems that update automatically from the wowArmory and your guild achievements calculate points to determine which guilds are most highly ranked. Our scoring system is based on the three factors that make rankings count: boss kills, loot awarded and achievements received. Guilds can manually update their achievements at any time on the server forums, at which time points will be recalulated and any required changes made. Only the top five teams from each faction are displayed.
