BLOOD FURNACE HISTORY

Significant events in Blood Furnace history are grouped into their respective Arena seasons.

Arena Season One

The Horde guild <Aftermath> established itself as the top guild of the server during Season One. The crew recorded the server’s first Karazhan clear and followed that by being the first guild to down Maulgar, Gruul, Magtheridon, Doom Lord Kazzak and Doomwalker.

The top Arena players for Season One were Veyl the Undead Mage and Hiimqaz the Blood Elf Rogue, whose team Yellowfish finished with a 2300 rating (5th in the Cataclysm Battlegroup) to earn them the title of Gladiator (top 0.5% in the Battlegroup).

Arena Season Two

The server changed dramatically when Arena Season Two began on June 19, 2007. The biggest change was “The Merger.” The Horde-heavy Cataclysm Battlegroup was merged with the Alliance-heavy Frenzy Battlegroup and renamed Retaliation. The merger proved to be a great improvement, as Horde experienced somewhat reduced queue times and multiple Battleground instances began running 24 hours a day. Arena competition stepped up too with the pool of competitors doubling in one night. Although The Merger was a great decision by Blizzard, it came too late as the members of <Aftermath> transferred off the server to due to the population imbalance.

The Alliance guild <Inactive> became the top raiding guild on the server following the departure of <Aftermath>. <Inactive> began with a merger between <Ataxia> and <Karma Enforcement Agency>. On May 12, 2007, the two guilds joined to form the "new" <Ataxia> which proceeded to down Gruul, Magtheridon, Doom Lord Kazzak and Doomwalker—all Alliance firsts. Despite this success, <Ataxia> suffered leadership problems and reorganized to form <Inactive> on June 6, 2007.

In just over one month, the members of <Inactive> recorded server first kills of Hydross, Lurker, Tidewalker, Karathress, Leotheras, Al'ar and Solarian. Sadly, <Inactive> disbanded unceremoniously on August 9, 2007 due to infighting and drama. Virtually all of its members rerolled, transferred or quit the game.

On September 28, 2007, Cthulak (a transfer from Warsong server) opened the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj to become the server's first Scarab Lord.
Kko was the second and final Scarab Lord. Both have transfered back home.

October 24, 2007, <Malediction> recorded the server's first clear of Serpentshrine Cavern by downing Lady Vashj.

Arena Season Three

On December 8, 2007, <Malediction> recorded the server's first Kael'thas kill to became the first guild to reach the Battle for Mount Hyjal and The Black Temple 25-man raid instances.

On January 9, 2008, <Malediction> recorded the server's first Archimonde kill, becoming the first Blood Furnace guild to clear all of Mount Hyjal.

On March 3, 2008, <Conceited> recorded the first Alliance Lady Vashj kill.

On April 6, 2008, <Malediction> completed the server's first full clear of The Black Temple.
