MCA is a raiding group on the Alliance side of the Feathermoon server. The forums are at http://www.zolusc.com/mca/ MCA originally stood for "Molten Core Alliance", but as the relevance of that dungeon has dwindled "MCA" has become more of a name in itself than an acronym. The MCA is fairly unique in its loosely confederated organization. It involves many raids, each with its own leadership and style, but unified by shared forums and certain standards to ensure fairness in invitations and loot distribution. A core principle is that raiders are never required or preferred to be members of any particular guild.

MCA was founded in October 2005 by Alliandra, Shinryu, Horen, and Malanthazon for the purpose of creating a Molten Core raid for guilds that were not large enough to field raids on their own. Forums and a DKP site were provided by Malanthazon. The first raid was held on 10/14/2005 at which Malanthazon was appointed leader. Guilds heavily represented among the early runs included Petty Revenge, Clan Iron Axe, Hand of Havoc, and Azure Dragons. Despite the departure of Hand of Havoc and the summary blacklisting of co-founders Shinryu and Horen, by the end of 2005 MCA had defeated all but Majordomo and Ragnaros.

In January 2006, the scope of the MCA expanded to a multi-raid alliance with the creation of MCA2 by Koufax and Karnack and the MCA3 Onyxia raid lead by Malanthazon and Izual. Over the course of the year, the alliance continued to expand with more and more raids at a variety of levels of progression meeting a variety of schedules. At its zenith, MCA comprised eight 40-man raids and six 20-man raids weekly involving over 250 active characters in every raid dungeon.

Starting with MCARawr, named for Malanthazon's portrayal of Firemaw in a dramatic re-enactment of the strategy, names came to replace numbers in identifying most of our raids.

Notable first kills before the expansion included: Onyxia - MCA6 - 2/13/06 Ragnaros - MCA1 - 2/25/06 Razorgore MCARawr - 4/14/06 Ragnaros - MCA2 - 5/1/06 Ossirian - MCAPancakes - 8/30/06 Nefarian - MCARawr - 9/16/06 Nefarian - MCAMeow - 1/1/07 Huhuran - MCARawr - 1/13/07

July of 2006 saw the most serious incident of drama within the MCA, involving many interrelated imperfections of DKP systems and how people could transfer between different raids. A schism loomed, but people kept level heads, the issues were hashed out, and MCA continued to grow. Towards the end of the year, the combination of the holiday season, increased interest in PvP rewards, and anticipation of the expansion caused the amount of raiding to contract for MCA, along with most raiding groups.

MCARawr and MCAMeow continued to run 40-man content for several weeks into the expansion, getting several first kills in Naxxramas and AQ40, respectively, before interest waned to the point that running the old dungeons was no longer viable. Shortly after the expansion Malanthazon, citing personal reasons, withdrew from WoW. Seul has assumed leadership of the Alliance and new forums have been provided by Alas.

Presently, MCA has two Gruul raids: MCASharded lead by Seul and MCAMeow lead by Korhath. Additionally, there are about a dozen Karazhan raids varying widely in progression. (Netherspite remains the only boss not yet killed by any MCA raid, and that shouldn't last long.) Plans for Magtheridon, Serpentshrine, and the Eye are underway. Individuals looking for a place to raid, as well as existing groups interested in forming a raid under the MCA banner are encoraged to introduce themselves on our forums: http://www.zolusc.com/mca
