Gnomeregan is a PvE server, created on June 18th, 2006. It was considered to be largely a casual server, and progressed slower than most of the other realms in its Battlegroup. However, the realm now has many arena players consistently in the top 100 in the Nightfall battlegroup. In terms of PvE progression, the Horde guild Pwnhammer led the server in progression during the Burning Crusade, being the only guild to clear Sunwell Plateau. The guilds Fatal Nemesis and Metempsychosis led progression Alliance-side, with progression into Sunwell. There were a small handful of other guilds of both factions who cleared the Black Temple. There are about twice as many Alliance players as there are Horde (approx. 2.2:1 ratio).
In Wrath of the Lich King, the Horde guild Pwnhammer was first to complete all current 25-man content, earning both the Conqueror of Naxxramas and ...the Magic Seeker titles. The Alliance guild Fatal Nemesis was first on the server to down Sartharion (Heroic), thus earning the title Obsidian Slayer. Fatal Nemesis was also the first Alliance guild to complete all current 25-man content. The Alliance guilds Dragonblight and Metempsychosis are the only other guilds on the server to have cleared Naxxramas on Heroic difficulty. Currently, there are a handful of other guilds of both factions that are progressing well through the 25-man raid content.
