Icecrown was one of the servers available on launch day for World of Warcraft, back in November 2004. The server has been the victim of many hardware problems and, consequently, has been affectionately called "Icedown" at times. As of April 23rd, 2006, Icecrown has been transfered to new server hardware, relieving much of the lag and queue times being experienced by its players. Although the new hardware has decreased the overall number of problems, Icecrown has still been knocked offline several times due to hardware failures.

Server Population Statistics
According to the Warcraft server population-tracking website Warcraft Realms, Icecrown's Alliance player population exceeds the Horde player population. The reported ratio has ranged from 2.1:1 to 3:1 in favor of the Alliance.

End Game Progression
The Way This Works: The progression tables list bosses killed, not bosses currently being worked on. When a zone or wing has been entirely cleared (farm status) it is labeledProgress tracking follows the setup found in the guild progression thread on the Icecrown WoW Forum.
Raid Tiers
- Tier 4 + Tier 5: Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, The Eye. 25-Man raiding content. Serpentshrine Cavern and The Eye have been grouped together since they share Tier 5 set pieces. Gruul and Magtheridon's Lairs contain Tier 4 loot.
- Tier 6: Hyjal Summit, Black Temple. Guilds in this tier have successfully completed Serpentshrine Cavern & The Eye. Hyjal Summit and Black Temple have been grouped together since they share Tier 6 set pieces.

Burning Crusade Raid Progress
- Serpentshrine Cavern: Due to non-linear positioning of bosses in this instance the following bosses will be listed inline until Lady Vashj is killed: Hydross, Lurker, Tidewalker, Fathom-Lord, Leotheras. Bosses ordered are based on relative distance to zone line.
- The Eye: Due to non-linear positioning of bosses in this instance the following bosses will be listed inline until Kael'thas is killed: Al'ar, Void Reaver, Solarian. Bosses ordered are based on relative distance to zone line.
- Black Temple: Due to non-linear positioning of bosses in this instance the following bosses will be listed inline until Mother Shahraz is killed: Shade of Akama, Gorefiend, Reliquary of Souls, Bloodboil. Bosses ordered are based on relative distance to zone line. Naj'entus & Supremus will be listed linearly, until one boss in the next set killed.
- SSC/The Eye: Guild Progression Ranking will be determined by the number of bosses defeated in the combined two (2) instances.
- Hyjal/BT: Guild Progression Ranking will be determined by the number of bosses defeated in the combined two (2) instances.
- Sunwell: Guild Progression Ranking will be determined by the number of bosses defeated in the instance.

Icecrown Ventrilo Server
Recently, a Ventrilo server for the players of Icecrown has been setup. Channels are organized for both Alliance and Horde PvP, with multiple channels for each battleground.

Reserved Names: You can send a mail message to Avent (alliance) or Hvent (horde) on the character you wish to have a reserved name on. Make sure to include a message indicating the account name and password. You may not have capital letters in your password because of the way blizzard displays its text in mail.
